  • 1/20 Earthtones Vocal Ensemble: Work Songs

You are invited to join Earthtones, the UConn World Music Vocal Ensemble, as we explore Work Songs from varied cultures and historical periods. This course will include a diverse array of folk and popular songs linked to work experiences that highlight specific historical periods, voice protest against injustices, and reflect a strong sense of pride, sense of humor and feeling of community. Some tunes are well-known, others are more obscure. The stories and songs of the daily laborers will touch your heart, make you laugh (and cry) and have you rethinking work experiences from  the past and of the present. We will sing virtually for two weeks, with the goal of creating a final concert at the end of the semester.

We welcome all faculty, staff and community members who are eager to participate in a unique artistic experience. No audition is required, just a willingness to be a part of a singing and learning community.

Earthtones meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 in MUSI 108.  The course is free. Come join us.
