Dear UConn Community:
I am pleased to announce that Reka Wrynn has accepted my offer to become the (Interim) Associate Vice President for Budget, Planning and Institutional Research. This will be effective immediately.
As many of you know, Reka has served as the Director of Capital Budget and Planning at UConn for the past seven years, before which she served as a senior financial advisor in the Office of the Executive Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer (EVPACFO) and a senior analyst in the Office of Budget and Planning. All told, she has spent the past 20 years managing UConn budgets, which gives her unparalleled perspective on the University’s financial resources.
Reka has been instrumental in supporting the University’s transformation by managing the university’s $4.3 billion in UCONN 2000 capital bonds and an additional $1.5 billion for Next Generation Connecticut capital projects. She has developed policies and procedures to meet capital funding compliance requirements, and created and maintained short and longāterm capital budget plans consistent with University goals and objectives. She has been invaluable in providing me with advice on the University’s finances, and I will look to her to oversee the implementation of a budget model that better supports the advancement of the academic mission and the strategic plan.
She will be responsible for overseeing the new Office of Budget, Planning and Institutional Research (BPIR) that integrated the Office of Budget and Planning (OBP) and the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE). She will have a dual reporting line to the Provost and the Chief Financial Officer.
Please join me in congratulating Reka and wishing her well in this role.
Best,
Lloyd Blanchard
