Operationalizing Career Readiness into Courses and Curriculum to Help Prepare Students for Positive Post-Graduation Outcomes

Panelists: Judy Brown, Danielle DeRosa; Moderator: Nancy Bilmes

Interested in incorporating career content into your course but unsure how to do so? Join Judy Brown, Institute for Systems Genomics, and Danielle DeRosa, Sports Management Program, as they share Best Practices around incorporating career-relevant content into their courses and curriculum. You will not only walk away learning how to turn ideas into practice but also with tangible resources. Both Danielle and Judy are of the mind that if there are resources and content available, it doesn’t make sense to start from scratch, and are willing to share what they’ve already developed. Participants will learn:

    • Why It’s important to incorporate career content into courses and curriculum (for both undergraduate and graduate students) from a faculty perspective
    • How to scale career-related content to fit into courses including NACE Career Readiness Competencies, resume development, informational interviews, and more
    • The benefits of partnering with the Center for Career Development to use available resources such as already prepared career modules
    • Tips on how to work with other faculty members within your department to embed career concepts into the curriculum
