  • 12/1 Pharmaceutical Sciences Seminar - Dr. Dan Fabris

Seminar Title: “Exploring Ligand-RNA Interactions by Native Mass Spectrometry”

     When:  December 1, 2021 @ 3:30

    Where:  PBB # 131

Dr. Dan Fabris is the Harold S. Schwenk, Senior Distinguished Chair in the Department of Chemistry, UConn

    Research Interests

My research program is dedicated to the investigation of the structure-function relationships in nucleic acids and protein-nucleic acid complexes that play determinant roles in infectious diseases. The overarching goal is to identify therapeutic targets and to drive drug discovery and diagnostics for HIV, hepatitis C, Zika, and other RNA viruses. To achieve this goal, my group follows a unique cross-disciplinary approach that combines cutting-edge biophysical, biochemical, computational, and omics techniques with novel technologies based on mass spectrometry developed in the lab. Currently funded projects include the investigation of regulatory mechanisms of viral processes involving RNA post-transcriptional modifications (PTMs) and their possible role in mediating the potentiating effects of drugs of abuse on HIV-1 replication.
