    All advisors are strongly encouraged to attend a special session of our virtual 2021 University Advising Professional Development SeriesAdvising Students of Color Series: Creating Brave Spaces Through Beginning Dialogues About Racial Equity and Social Justice

    This session will provide participants the opportunity to racialize their voice while transforming the environment from safe to brave dialogues racial awareness. Participants will be introduced to the Create Brave Spaces 4 Principles and will have an opportunity to engage in prompts and process.

    About the speaker:

    Malik Champlain is a Racial Equity and Social Justice Educational Consultant with the State Education Resource Center. Also, Malik is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker and author of "Passion Hunger Drive: Live Your Dreams, Not Your Fears" an inspirational best-selling book. Malik has been recognized by the Hartford Business Journal 40 under 40 award recipient, 100 Men of Color Award, and several NAACP community service awards. Malik has been seen presenting on NBC, FOX News, The Grio and as a Tedx speaker. Malik resides in the Greater Hartford area with his wife Rosalyn Champlain and three children.
