  • 10/12 Avery Point To Host Be The Match Event On 10/12

GROTON, Conn. – The University of Connecticut Avery Point will host a “Be The Match” event in conjunction with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) on Tuesday, October 12. The event will take place in the Avery Point Gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All members of the Avery Point community and the Southeastern Connecticut community are invited to participate.

Advance registration is not required for participants. Upon checking in at the registration table, participants will be given a QR code to complete the registration process, which will take only a few minutes. From there, a simple, painless cheek swab will be administered in order to be added to the registry.

Since 2008, the NMDP has partnered with the Andy Talley Foundation for its “Get in the Game” donor drives, resulting in nearly 120,000 new potential donors being added to the registry.
