Office Hours 2.0
Online
Presenters: Martina Rosenberg, Tina Huey, CETL-Faculty Development
Office hours are not intended to take the place of regular instruction, but they are often underutilized as a support for student learning. In this interactive presentation, we will propose ways to reframe office hours so that students are more likely to seek them out. The objectives of this session are to
- Review the value of student-instructor conferences—for you, too
- Identify reasons why students don’t seek help in office hours
- Suggest ways to increase participation in office hours
- Provide conversation starters to establish rapport and increase the effectiveness of feedback
- Discuss what is on your mind
