    Oral Communication/Presentation Skills

    Days: Monday/Wednesday

    Dates: September 20 – November 1, 2021

    Time: 8:00am – 9:30am

    Fee: $250

    Location: Online (Zoom)

This course will help participants develop oral skills necessary for academic success as a student, instructor, or presenter, as well as discussion and conversation skills necessary for everyday communication. In the first session, participants will work on identifying problem areas and setting goals. The specific contents will then be determined based on the group’s needs and interests, but usually will include an overview of American English pronunciation, characteristics of effective presentations, expectations of American academic audiences, and aspects of cross-cultural communication. Participants will work on a variety of strategies to evaluate and develop their language and presentation skills. Participants will leave with a plan for continuing improvement beyond the course.
