  • Grad Student Labor- Ellington Cottage Management

    The Department of Student Activities at the University of Connecticut is seeking a graduate student for the academic year 2021-2022.  The individual in this position will assist in the reservation and management of the Ellington Cottage facility on the Depot Campus that is operated by Student Activities. 

     

    General Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, supporting, and evaluating undergraduate student Facility Monitors engaged in the staffing, supervision, operation, and general maintenance of the Ellington Cottage facility.
    • Review and make recommendations regarding policies and procedures related to the use and maintenance of the Ellington Cottage facility.
    • Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures related to the use and maintenance of the Ellington Cottage facility.
    • Provide appropriate training and support to undergraduate Facility Monitors.
    • Be on-call to address facility issues related to access, maintenance, and other use-related issues.
    • Serve as the primary contact and coordinate all requests related to the use of the Ellington Cottage facility.
    • Assist in coordinating Ellington Cottage facility maintenance and repair requests with appropriate University departments.
    • Keep records and information related to the use and maintenance of the Ellington Cottage facility.
    • Completing other duties as required including, but not limited to, office projects and department committees.
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated ability to select, supervise and support undergraduate student employees;
    • Demonstrated ability or interest in developing and implementing facility use plans/schedules;
    • Strong written and verbal communication;
    • Supervisory and/or advisory experience;
    • Experience in the delivery of quality customer service;
    • Strong ability to work effectively in Microsoft Office and the Google Suite.
    • Commitment to excellence in the development of student-centered programs and services;
    • Organization, creativity, self-motivation, a sense of humor, initiative, multi-tasking skills, and a can-do attitude;

     

    Commitment:

    • Up to 15-20 hours per week; pay is hourly; schedule will vary based on facility use and programmatic needs;
    • Weekend and evening hours as required;
