  • Seeking Human Subjects: Aging/Parkinson's Study

The Language and Brain Lab (LAB Lab) at the University of Connecticut is looking for volunteers for a research study of speech and language. In particular, we are looking for people above the age of 45 who grew up speaking North American English and have no history of hearing deficit and no experience with German, Modern Greek, or Irish. We are looking both for people with Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and people around the same age as a comparison group; the research will help our understanding of how PD affects understanding and learning of speech. You will listen to speech sounds, words, or sentences and make decisions about them. You will receive $30/hr for your participation, plus $10/hr for travel costs. You may have options to participate on our campus in Storrs or at your home. If you are interested, please contact Chris Heffner (christopher.heffner@uconn.edu); the study is being performed under the direction of Dr. Heffner and Dr. Emily Myers.
