  • Seeking Host Families for Tomorrows Intl Leaders

In today’s ever-changing global landscape, building bridges between cultures is critically important. Every year the non-profit organization AFS-USA brings high school students from 90 countries as cultural ambassadors to live with a family and study in the US. The program offers them the opportunity to experience American culture and life, while sharing their culture with their host communities.

The local AFS volunteer network has an opportunity for 5 local adults/families to host AFS students who will arrive in August for the academic year. Many of these students apply to US colleges after their exchange year – especially those who enjoy their year in Connecticut. Hosting an exchange student is a way to see the world from a new perspective and to become a Global Family – and show them all that the UCONN community has to offer.

If you would like to know more about the host family experience, reach out to Ryan White (Aerospace Studies Department, ryan.2.white@uconn.edu) who will be hosting a student from Turkey in the Fall.  You can also start an application today at https://www.afsusa.org/host-family/.
