The University grieves the loss of a valued member of our community, Christopher Loring. Christopher passed away on May 7, 2021, he was a senior Sociology major from Plantsville, CT. During his time at UConn he was a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, the H2O House Learning Community and most recently the UConn Men’s Rugby team.
For those wishing to pay their respect to Christopher’s family, calling hours will be on May 13, 2021 at 4:00 pm at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 14, 2021 at 10:00 am at Mary Our Queen Catholic Church, 248 Savage Street, Plantsville, Connecticut. Staff in the Dean of Students Office are available to meet with you if that would be helpful. To schedule a meeting please visit the Dean of Students Office website, click on the schedule an appointment button and select an available time from the drop down list. If the available times do not work with your schedule, email dos@uconn.edu and request a meeting with an Assistant Dean.
This is a difficult time for the University as we navigate the many emotions people have after experiencing the loss of another community member. In addition to the sadness of this immediate incident, we are aware that tragedy may trigger our own personal histories of loss and grief. Staff and faculty are encouraged to reach out to UConn’s Employee Assistance Program if they are in need of support.
