Getting comfortable and effective with Office Hours
    Tuesday, April 27, 3:00-4:15pm
    Online
    Presenters: Martina Rosenberg, CETL-Faculty Development

Join us for an hour of your day to connect with your colleagues. Each Teaching Talk has a thematic focus related to mentoring, teaching and learning but is shaped by participant needs and interests. During interactive discussions around the topic, we will share our successes, challenges encountered, ideas and resources.

Not all students are taking advantage of the time that you set aside for office hours. This missed opportunity can contribute to how well they progress in your course or in the program. Whether you are instructing in virtual or in-person modalities, contact time outside of scheduled class time can have unexpected benefits and support your reflective practice in teaching.

    Proposed Objectives

    1. Discuss how to lower barriers for students to show up and what office hours can be used for
    2. Explore how both instructors and students are benefiting from informal time.
    3. Share what is on your mind
