  • 4/6 MCB Seminar Series: Dr. David S. Gilmour

    Tuesday, April 6, 2021

    3:30pm – 4:30pm

Dr. David S. Gilmour, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Pennsylvania State University

    Host: Dr. Leighton Core

"RNA polymerase II dynamics and its enigmatic carboxy-terminal domain"

Summary: The carboxyl-terminal domain of RNA polymerase II is a nexus for controlling gene expression by associating with proteins involved in transcription, RNA processing and chromatin structure. I will present our work with Drosophila to investigate its function and results that lead us to propose that the CTD functions as a signal sequence to direct RNA polymerase II to transcription compartments.
