04/12 Pharmaceutical Sciences Toxicology Scholars Colloquium Seminar – Dr. Huichang (Nancy) Bi

Lecture title is “Nuclear receptors in hepatomegaly and liver regeneration: an update”.

Monday, April 12 from 10:00 am est – 11:15 am est via WebEX :  https://uconn-cmr.webex.com/meet/jem02027

Dr. Huichang Bi is a professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University. She obtained her Ph.D in Pharmacology in 2007. In 2011, she worked as a visiting scholar in Dr. Frank J. Gonzalez’s laboratory at NCI/NIH. Dr. Bi has a continuous interest in disclosing the metabolism of xenobiotics and endobiotics and their effects on diseases and clinical regimens. Her researches also extend to the drug-disease interactions mediated by nuclear receptors, metabolizing enzymes, and transporters.

This seminar updates the activation of pregnane X receptor (PXR), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-α (PPARα) and constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) on hepatomegaly and liver regeneration. Mechanistically, the interactions between these nuclear receptors and yes-associated protein (YAP) signals were presented and discussed.
