  • Study for Those Scheduled to Get COVID-19 Vaccine

Are you getting the COVID-19 Vaccine?

UConn Center on Aging, UConn Health and The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) are working together on a new critical and vital study that will allow us to learn more about the immune responses to COVID-19 vaccines across men and women in different age groups. We need your help as we continue to work together in learning about COVID-19 vaccine and immunity!

We are looking for volunteers to participate in a one year long study involving 9 study visits at one of two locations on UConn Health Campus (upper and lower campus) to examine blood and nose swab samples to better understand the immune response to COVID-19 vaccines. Participants will be asked to provide a blood sample at each visit starting up to 4 days before vaccination, then 1 day after vaccination and then 7 additional follow-up study visits with blood draws over the course of the year.

Participants will be asked to complete a brief medical history and medications questionnaire and to provide nose swabs at 3 of the visits for study of microbes (bacteria, viruses and other organisms). Participants will receive $50 compensation for their participation after each completed study visit.

We are looking for healthy men and women who have no known history of COVID-19 ages 21-49 years, ages 50-64 years and ≥ 65 years. Please call UConn Center on Aging to learn more about how you can participate, (860) 679-3043 or email Megan Wing, wing@uchc.edu or call JAX study coordinators at 860-837-2404 to complete an online pre-screening form.
