  • 3/27 Parkinson's Disease Virtual Symposium

Please join UConn Health's Parkinson and Movement Disorders Center multidisciplinary team on Saturday, March 27, from 8 a.m. to noon via Webex for a Parkinson's Disease Virtual Symposium. Registration may be found at http://h.uconn.edu/Parkinsons

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition affecting over a million Americans and one of the major neurological causes of disability.

New diagnostic techniques and medications are frequently introduced for the management of PD patients, every year. There is a need to update the knowledge of providers and researchers in this field. This symposium will benefit not only neurologists, but also internists and other caregivers who manage patients in various healthcare settings.

This symposium will provide an evidence-based approach to Parkinson’s disease management, including diagnosis, medical, surgical and rehabilitation treatments. It will also increase awareness regarding the impact of Parkinson’s disease on our society.

Our goals are to promote an academic environment, with a multidisciplinary approach that will foster improvement in patient care, safety and satisfaction. We aim to foster provider education, increasing disease recognition that will lead to the advancement of medical treatments and clinical research in Parkinson’s disease.
