Scholarly Colloquia and Events

  • Racism in the Margins

Join us for a symposium about what happens on the margins of student papers–whose voices get marginalized, what discourses, languages and perspectives are made marginal, and where racism becomes visible in and beyond margins.

Racism in the Margins is a UConn-wide initiative that opens up space for educators across disciplines to collaborate on more socially just approaches to teaching, responding to, and evaluating student writing. Please join us on February 19 and February 26 at 3:00-5:00 p.m. EST to think about race and writing with four leading scholars.

All faculty, staff, and graduate students who have a role in teaching students are invited to attend.

Racism in the Margins is Funded by the CLAS Grant for Anti-Racist Scholarship, Pedagogy, and Workplace Climate with support from the University Writing Center; the Aetna Chair of Writing; the departments of English, History, Political Science, American Studies, and Africana Studies; El Instituto; and the Asian and Asian American Studies Institute.
