    Professor Paula Findlen of Stanford University will be the Gender & History visiting scholar for the 2020-21 year. Her two events take place on Monday Feb 8 and Wednesday Feb 10.

    In her Gender & History public talk (on Feb 8), she will tell us about her current book project, Inventing Medieval Women: History, Memory, and Forgery, exploring the origins and evolution of mythologies about Bologna’s women graduates between the 13th and 18th centuries.     Talk and Dialogue, 4:30-5:45 PM EST: "Inventing Medieval Women: History, Memory, and Forgery in Early Modern Italy."     Wednesday Feb 10

    Informal lunchtime seminar,12:15-1:30 PM EST, on "Aristotle in the Pharmacy: The Ambitions of Camilla Erculiani in Sixteenth-Century Padua." This essay explores why a woman apothecary in late sixteenth-century Padua published a rather unorthodox and interesting work of natural philosophy and was investigated by the Paduan Inquisition.
