  • Upcoming Bioinformatics Workshops

The Computational Biology Core within the Institute for Systems Genomics is pleased to announce following workshops!

Workshop description and registration link can be found here: https://bioinformatics.uconn.edu/cbc-workshops/

    Topic: Virtual RAD-seq Analysis
    Dates: February 8-11 (4 days), 2021
    Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
    Location: Online
    Cost: $300

For anyone with keen interest and desire to develop RAD-Seq analytic skills.

Day 1: Introduction to Linux, HPC, HTS
Day 2-4 : The workshop will cover basic concepts and walk through a complete analysis on a high-performance computing cluster. The analysis will start with raw reads and go through some very basic analyses of population genetic structure. The core learning goal is to familiarize attendees with the steps necessary to analyze RAD-seq data, the tools available, common data formats, and possible pitfalls they may encounter. The short duration of the workshop means that nearly all the time will be given to explaining the rationale and mechanics of each stage of the analysis, and not to independent exercises.

Topic: Virtual RNA-seq Analysis (Model Species)
    Dates: March 1-4 (4 days), 2021
    Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
    Location: Online
    Cost: $300

For anyone with keen interest and desire to develop RNA-Seq analytic skills.

Day 1 : Introduction to Linux, HPC (Xanadu Cluster).
Day 2-4: The aim of the workshop is to provide understanding of an RNA-Seq study from experimental design to identifying differential expressed genes and their GO term analysis.  The workshop will begin by introduction to HPC and Linux programming followed by discussion on High Throughput Sequencing (HTS) and RNA-Seq experimental design. Data Analysis workflow will include Raw reads (fastq) to mapping of reads to reference, Feature Count, Introduction to R, DE analysis and visualization (DESeq2), Biomart and GO analysis. Workshop will cover rational behind the workflow and tools used.

This workshop is not pre-recorded and at least two instructors are available to assist users as we walk through the tutorials.

Don’t forget our bi-weekly CBC Data Therapy Sessions!
    Dates: Feb 5th, 2021 ( Biweekly thereafter)
    Time: 10:30-11:30am
