    Course Details
    This one week online short-course is designed for faculty who are preparing to teach in Distance Learning (DL) or Online (WW) mode in Spring 2021. It will introduce participants to best practices in online teaching and learning and resources available to them at UConn. It provides an opportunity to experience the HuskyCT learning environment from the student perspective by using the quiz, journal, discussion, assignment and synchronous meeting (Collaborate) tools. Faculty will leave the course with an action plan to help them design, build, and teach their online and distance learning courses.

    Objectives:
    Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
    1. Use the quiz, journal, discussion, assignment and web conferencing features in HuskyCT as a student.
    2. Identify effective practices in online teaching and learning.
    3. Explain how your role, as an instructor, will change when teaching online.
    4. Identify research based standards and systematic processes that can be used to design high quality online courses.
    5. Determine your support needs in the areas of online course design, development, and teaching.
    6. Create an action plan to address your online course development needs, including:
    (a) Trainings and resources that align with, and support, your identified online course
    design, development and teaching needs;
    (b) Steps you will take to complete the design and development of your online course by
    the semester’s start date.

    Section Details
    This section of Preparing for Distance Education will be facilitated  in HuskyCT. It is an asynchronous course with "optional" synchronous meetings. You will receive an email notification and syllabus link when you have access to the course site in HuskyCT.
