Information for Deans, Directors, and Department Heads

  • Gilman Scholarship Info Session

Students who receive the federal Pell grant as part of their financial aid package and are U.S. citizens, will be eligible to apply for the nationally competitive Gilman Scholarship to study abroad. The scholarship offers a possible award of $5,000 with an additional $3,000 possible if a critical need language is studied during the abroad program.

A recording of the information session recently presented is now available and features Gilman certifying advisors LuAnn Saunders-Kanabay of the Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships, and Valerie Jenkelunas of Education Abroad. Student awardee Lily Deblasio discusses the application process as well as her current virtual internship in London, entirely covered by the scholarship.

The next deadline for Gilman scholarship applications is March 2020 for programs that are scheduled to begin during the summer 2021, fall 2021, academic year 2021-2022, as well as winter and spring 2022. Interested students should set-up an advising appointment with Valerie Jenkelunas as soon as possible to best prepare application materials and determine program selection.
