  • 10/29 Irish Ghost Stories & Halloween's Celtic roots

    On 10/29 join the 11am-noon upper-level Irish Literature class's discussion of Joyce’s Hallowe’en story, “Clay” (using Cóilín Owens’s celebrated James Joyce Quarterly article), and a presentation by Joan Tremblay on J.S. Le Fanu’s Victorian Irish Gothic classic, “The Child that Went with the Fairies.” The 12:30pm Short Story class features an open discussion of the same Le Fanu story and Bowen’s “The Demon Lover” & a chance to tell your OWN ghost story! Contact host Prof. Mary Burke regarding admittance (through WebEx) to either or both classes and for links to the texts. Costumes encouraged!
