  • 7/15 Apply: School of Engineering All-Girls Summer Camp

For its fourth year, the UConn School of Engineering's Diversity and Outreach Center is running the all-girls summer camp, "SPARK."  We have many spots open so please apply today and invite a friend!  Tell your daughters, nieces, cousins, and mentees.  The program is for girls in 7th-10th grade.  Students will be encouraged to have fun while learning, and to learn while having fun.  No prior experience is required.

Our mission is to close the gender gap in engineering by inspiring young women via hands-on projects, mentorship, and fun.  By inviting a young woman to attend, you are helping a young woman see herself as an engineer, gain engineering experience and skills, gain friends her age, and gain mentors to help her along the way--both professionals in the field and young women of diverse backgrounds studying engineering now.

Each week’s curriculum will focus on a different engineering discipline:

    • Engineering Through the Ages (Monday, July 20 - Friday, July 24): Explore the past and present while building a more sustainable city for the future
    • Designing and Flying Drones (Monday, July 27 - Friday, July 31): Apply principals of material science, 3D printing, and aerodynamics to make a drone fly
    • Coding (Monday, August 3 - Friday, August 7): Design apps, make circuits, and learn to apply programming to control the world around you

Sneak-peak:  Here is our photo gallery and schedule.  Meet the staff.

Cost: Please note that the program cost is $495 per session.  Financial aid is available; simply check the box for financial aid consideration in the application.

The deadline to apply is July 15, 2020.  Apply here.
