Special Events and Receptions

  • 2/4 Black History 365 Opening Ceremony

Come join us in celebrating the commencement of the UConn School of Social Work's first ever Black History 365 Campaign.

This event will feature artistic expressions from our youth, a legacy award presentation, and a keynote from Greater Hartford Alliance of Black Social Workers President, Roxanne Ellis-Derby. There will also be a reception to follow in the lobby with food and refreshments.

The Black History 365 Campaign is a year-length of programming spearheaded by students of African descent from the UConn School of Social Work to address the historical bandaid that Black History Month symbolizes, and to create a new culture within our school where the highs and lows of Black history and experiences are accessible to students for the entire year. Our priorities include, but are not limited to, representation, safe spaces, open dialogue, and diverse content.
