It is our pleasure to announce the recipient of this year’s Edward C. Marth Mentorship Award. This award recognizes a faculty member for outstanding leadership and dedication to excellence in mentoring graduate students. It was established by the UConn AAUP to honor Edward Marth, former Executive Director of the UConn AAUP Chapter.
This year’s recipient of the Marth Award is Professor Preston A. Britner from the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. Professor Britner has been an outstanding mentor and contributor to graduate education at UConn. We will honor Professor Britner’s contributions, and the contributions of some other notable faculty mentors, at the reception for PhD candidates and their families that is held annually on the afternoon of the PhD graduation ceremony. This year the reception will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020, from 3:00-5:00 in the North Reading Room of the Wilbur Cross Building. All are invited to attend the reception and celebrate with students, family, friends, and colleagues on May 11.
Past recipients of the Marth Award include Sandra Chafouleas (2018), Maria-Luz Fernandez (2017), Elizabeth Jockusch (2016), Shareen Hertel (2015), John Mathieu (2014), JC Beall (2013) and Dipak Dey (2012).
