2020 UConn Summer Chinese Language and Culture Immersion is an intensive Chinese language and culture immersion program geared towards improving Chinese learners’ linguistic competence and cultural awareness in context. The program consists of a three-week language and culture course, cultural workshops and field trips to Suzhou and Hangzhou. The program is open to anyone who is interested in Chinese language and culture.
The UConn-LCI is hosted by East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai, China. One of the top comprehensive universities in China, ECNU has a long tradition of teaching Chinese to foreign students from all over the world and is widely known both domestic and abroad. Shanghai, also known as “the Paris of the East”, is the largest city in China and the eighth largest in the world, and is one of the world’s most dynamic and vibrant megalopolises, attracting business people, travelers, and all those wishing to experience one of China’s most unique destinations.
Through coursework, cultural activities, and guided field trip, the UConn-CLCC curriculum provides participants an opportunity to get immersed in Chinese speaking, and to encounter Chinese culture on a daily basis.
