To the UConn Community,
I write to inform you that UConn’s Chief Audit Executive (CAE), Cheryl Chiaputti, has announced that she will retire effective October 1, 2019 after more than two decades of service to UConn.
Cheryl came to the university as a staff auditor in 1997 and later became Director of Audit Services for all university campuses in 2007. She was appointed Chief Audit Executive in December 2017. Prior to coming to UConn, she worked for over 10 years as a public accounting professional, providing accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services to a variety of clients including individuals, businesses and non-profit institutions.
We are happy for Cheryl and wish her all the best in her retirement. At the same time, we are sorry to lose such a highly regarded longtime colleague known across our campuses for her professionalism, diligence and commitment to UConn. We are a better university thanks to Cheryl and her team.
The search for the university’s next Chief Audit Executive will begin in September. Cheryl has agreed to provide ongoing management and oversight of the Office of Audit and Management throughout the transition period until the position of CAE has been filled.
Once again, our thanks and best wishes to Cheryl!
Sincerely,
Tom Katsouleas
