  • Disability Awareness & Inclusive Teaching Training

ATTENTION INSTRUCTORS: Opportunity to participate in research study to evaluate the effectiveness of training videos discussing disability awareness and inclusive teaching practices. An inclusion criterion includes that instructors must be currently teaching a course at the time of participation. The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning produced a series of short, 15-28 minute videos featuring interviews with college students with disabilities and disability services providers and experts, as well as provide guidance on reasonable accommodations and inclusive teaching strategies. The videos are intended to help part- and full-time instructors to improve their abilities to serve students with disabilities. The videos will be housed on HuskyCT and participants can watch them at their convenience. Participants will also be asked to take a short anonymous survey before and after the videos, and will be invited to attend an optional on-campus luncheon to share feedback on the training. Participation will involve approximately three hours (completing 2 5-10-minute surveys, watching 5 20-28-minute videos and attending one optional 1-1.5 hour focus group luncheon). There may be benefits from participation. Participants will be able to participate in the study/observe the videos at no cost to them, which may improve their awareness of disabilities and inclusive teaching practices. They will receive no compensation for this project.
