  • Dean Anne D'Alleva

Sent on behalf of John Elliott, Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs:

This past spring, a review committee was charged to evaluate Dean Anne D’Alleva’s performance. Having received uniformly positive support for Dr. D’Alleva’s leadership and consistent praise for her success in strengthening the School’s programming and reputation, I am delighted to inform you that Dr. D’Alleva’s term as Dean has been extended for another five years.

Dr. Anne D’Alleva was appointed Dean of the School of Fine Arts in July 2015.  Under her leadership, the School has seen tremendous expansion in the Digital Medial and Design Department, research funding has increased to support faculty research, and the strength and diversity of the School’s faculty and undergraduate students has seen continued growth. Dean D’Alleva has led a collaboration with the School of Engineering on a STEAM initiative that brings new opportunities to Fine Arts students. She is an engaged and visible member of the University community and the community at large.

Dean D’Alleva earned her undergraduate degree in Art History from Harvard University and her PhD in Art History from Columbia University.  Dr. D’Alleva’s research interests include the arts of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Tahiti and the Society Islands, and her guides to the methodologies and theories of art history are widely available across the English-speaking world and in Mandarin, Korean, French, and several other languages.

I am grateful to the Committee Chair, Dean Bruce Liang, and the Review Committee, for its thorough work on this review.

Please join me in congratulating Dean Anne D’Alleva on her reappointment.  I look forward to working with her in the future.
