In Memoriam

  • Passing of UConn student Nhuong Nguyen

It is with sadness that we share the loss of a valued member of our community, Nhuong Nguyen. On November 30, 2021 Nhuong passed away as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Staff from across the University are working to provide support to individuals impacted by this loss.

Nhuong was doctoral student and accomplished scholar studying Computer Science & Engineering. Originally from Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, Nhuong enrolled at UConn in the fall 2019 to pursue his PhD. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from Ho Chi Minh University of Science in 2014. Prior to enrolling at UConn he worked as a software engineer. At UConn he worked as a research assistant in the CT Advanced Computing Center.

The School of Engineering will hold a celebration of life to honor Nhuong’s memory and provide an opportunity for the UConn community to come together in his honor. For those wishing to attend the celebration of life, it will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 2:00pm in the ITE Lobby, 371 Fairfield Way. Condolences to the Nguyen family can be sent to the Dean of Students Office, 233 Glenbrook Road, Unit-4062, Storrs, Connecticut 06269-4062.

Staff and faculty are encouraged to reach out to UConn’s Employee Assistance Program if they are in need of support.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Nhuong’s family, friends, and colleagues during this time of loss.
