    Antiracist Approaches to Writing Instruction
    Friday, April 23, 12:30 - 1:30
Presenters: Gabe Morrisson, PhD Candidate in English and Kathleen Tonry, Associate Director of The Writing Center
Online - link will be emailed to registered participants

Drawing on contemporary research in the field of writing studies, this workshop introduces some antiracist pedagogical approaches to designing writing assignments and providing feedback on writing. After investigating some of the ways common pedagogical assumptions may serve to marginalize students of color, facilitators will overview translingual frameworks, contract grading, and community engaged projects as three antiracist teaching methods. Time will be reserved for participants to share ideas and consider ways to implement new practices into their teaching.
