  • Update: Open Enrollment and Anthem Transition

The Office of the State Comptroller has provided new information about open enrollment and the planned transition of all state employees, pre-Medicare retirees and dependents from Oxford/UnitedHealthcare to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Open Enrollment will now be delayed to September 2020 and the transition of all employees to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield will now be delayed to Oct. 1, 2020. (If GA Open Enrollment is also delayed, HR will inform the appropriate populations.)

The delayed transition means that all employees, retirees and dependents will remain in the plan and with the carrier that they currently have – with no changes – until Oct. 1, 2020. There will also be no change to medical/prescription or dental rates until that time. Any open enrollment events previously scheduled for in person or online will be rescheduled.

This decision was made in recognition of the immense pressures that all agencies, employees and their families (as well as the state’s entire health care system) are facing during the ongoing measures and response related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Human Resources will share further details, as they become available.
