  • 4/24 UConn Talks Features Innovative Faculty

The University of Connecticut is presenting UConn Talks, a free ongoing series of talks to share the innovative ideas of the University's top faculty.

    Wednesday, April 24, 2013

    von der Mehden Recital Hall

    10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

As State Archaeologist with the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History and Archaeology Center at UConn and Associate Research Professor in UConn's Department of Anthropology, Dr. Nick Bellantoni has discovered the fallacy of the old saying "Dead men tell no tales." He will share his experiences throughout an illustrious career that has included forensics, archaeological excavations, and a fragment of what was purported to be Hitler's skull.

Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Director of UConn's New Synthetic Methods Group. Using real-world examples, he'll explain how he and his research group have found ways to make compounds with a fraction of the waste, in a fraction of the time, and at a fraction of the cost of other routes.

Dr. Bruce M. Stave is Director of UConn's Oral History Office and Board of Trustees Distinguished Professor of History Emeritus. He'll talk about his career in oral history, why oral history has become increasingly popular and how it has been, and is being, changed by technology.

UConn Talks includes a question and answer period after each speaker. The event is free and open to the UConn community and general public.
