On Friday, August 25th our incoming freshman class and their family/friends will arrive in Storrs to move into campus housing. As a University, we thus face two important needs: We must support our students and their families as they transition to campus life, and due to construction on campus and road closures this year, we need to minimize traffic congestion as much as possible.
As a result, the University encourages managers to permit employees who work on the Storrs main campus and whose jobs allow them to do so, to telecommute on August 25th. In addition, managers should not deny employees the opportunity to take the day off using accrued time, as long as doing so does not disrupt the University’s ability to conduct its business and support incoming students.
