  • CGI & Chromosome Core Interruption to Services AUG

    Dear Colleagues,

In preparation for our move to the new Engineering and Science building at the end of August, the Center for Genome Innovation and Chromosome Core service centers will be operating under a limited sample processing/service schedule starting August 1, 2017.  Please take note of the following deadlines so you can plan your experiments accordingly through the remainder of the summer.

August 1, 2017 - Last day for CGI and Chromosome Core sample submission for:
    • Next Generation library preparation (all types)
    • Karyotyping and FISH
    • Affymetrix GeneChip and GeneAtlas projects (all types)

NOTE:  Any projects that can not be completed by 4pm August 18, 2017 (i.e. data delivery to customer) will be delayed through September 8, 2017.  Project deliverables and anticipated turn around time based on current queue will be discussed with each PI prior to project start.  Projects will be placed in the queue on a first-come first-served basis.

August 11, 2017 (1pm) - Last day for Full Service Sanger Sequencing Sample submission
    • Samples will be processed that day followed by sequencing on Monday, August 14th.

NOTE:  All samples will be sequenced on a first come first served basis, with 192 samples being the maximum number of samples possible for a sequencing run Monday August 14th.  All Sanger samples beyond 192 will be delayed through September 8, 2017.

August 16, 2017 (1pm) - Last day for Run-Only Sanger Sequencing Sample submission
    • The last samples (i.e. customer prepared BigDye terminator and purification) before instrument shutdown will be sequenced Wednesday, August 16th.
    • Instrument will be shut down on Friday August 18th.

NOTE:  All ready to run samples will be sequenced on a first come first served basis, with 192 samples being the maximum number of samples possible for a sequencing run Wednesday August 16th.

August 16, 2017 - Last day for Run-Only Next Generation Sequencing on the Illumina MiSeq and Illumina NextSeq 500 and Fluidigm equipment (BioMark HD, access arrays and C1) at the STORRS location.
    • Customer prepared libraries will be sequenced through Wednesday, August 16th.  Both instruments will be shut down on Friday August 18th.
    • Last day to use the Fluidigm BioMark and C1 instruments.  Instruments will be shut down on Friday August 18th.

NOTE:  All ready to run libraries will be sequenced on a first come first served basis.  Reservations for the Fluidigm equipment will also be on a first come first served basis.  If Next Generation sequencing is critical for your experiment during this time period, we can arrange for sequencing to be done at the UCONN Health satellite location.

August 16, 2017 - Last day for usage of all ancillary CGI and Chromosome Core equipment STORRS location, including:
    • Agilent TapeStation
    • Qubit
    • Nanodrop

August 21, 2017 - September 6, 2017:  All CGI and Chromosome Core services are suspended, including:
    • Project budgeting
    • Quotes
    • Letters of Support requests
    • Data acquisition

NOTE:  During this time, all CGI and Chromosome Core staff will have limited or no access to email.

September 6, 2017:  CGI and Chromosome Core services are restored

Having a minimal amount of down time is our goal through this transition.  Our expectation is that all major instrumentation and ancillary equipment will be delivered and reinstalled without issue.  We will be working to ensure all instruments are validated and working properly before use.  In the event that something is not working properly, CGI and Chromosome Core users will be notified. We will announce our re-opening and include submission directions and drop-off locations at that time.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns about this transition.  We will do our best to accommodate your research needs so that this impacts your work as little as possible.

We look forward to working with you all in our new space in the Fall!

    Warm Regards,
