  • Executive Director Innovation Partnership Building

    The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) seeks a tenured faculty member at the University of Connecticut to serve as the Executive Director of the Innovation Partnership Building (IPB).  The IPB will reside within the OVPR organizational structure, and the Executive Director will report to the Vice President for Research (VPR) or her designee. The Executive Director will represent the university in discussions with University Planning, Design and Construction (UPDC) and the architects during the completion of the building.  The incumbent will lead efforts to establish new industry partnerships that combine the space and the sophisticated instrumentation resources available in the IPB with the expertise and capabilities of UConn’s faculty in pursuit of solutions to industrial problems.  In addition to seeking new collaborative opportunities and partnerships, the Executive Director will be responsible for supporting and evaluating the activities that make use of the IPB to ensure that its resources are used as productively as possible. In pursuing this objective, the Executive Director will supervise the administrative staff of the IPB and work in partnership with the Directors of IPB-affiliated Research Centers and with the Deans of the related schools and colleges.

    The ideal candidate for this position will have an established track record of industry/academic collaboration, a commitment to working effectively with industry and a diverse constituency of researchers within the university, and a clear understanding of the opportunities for collaborative research and development at the forefront of science and technology in the state and the nation. 

    The Executive Director will maintain a faculty appointment and will receive a combination of course release time and summer support as compensation.
