University Computers
This is an Important Reminder regarding use of University computers. Failure to comply with these steps may subject the University and/or individual employees to liability and/or other sanctions.
Prior to having the following work performed on University computer equipment, all University departments must contact UITS at 6-4357 or helpcenter@uconn.edu.
Contact UITS before:
- Reimaging a computer;
- Reassigning a computer to another user;
- Sending a computer to surplus to be destroyed or redeployed; and/or
- Taking any steps that may cause information on the computer to become lost or destroyed.
UITS will check to see if there is a litigation hold and address any legal requirements related to that computer, which may include taking an image of the computer’s hard drive to preserve data. Once these steps are completed, the computer is ready to be deployed to the new user or take other action.
Contacting UITS before taking any of the actions identified above is essential to avoid potential liability and/or other issues.
