  • Chemical Health and Safety Manager

    Dear Colleagues,

    I am pleased to announce that following the recent retirement of Stefan Wawzyniecki, we have selected Brent Lewchik to serve as Chemical Health and Safety Manager for the Division of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), effective immediately. 

    Brent will lead the Chemical Health and Safety team that supports, services, and partners with a broad range of research, academic, and administrative units across the University’s Storrs and regional campuses. He will also serve as the University’s Chemical Hygiene Officer. In these roles, Brent will promote a culture of safety among faculty, staff, students, and visitors in research and teaching laboratories, fostering collaboration and advocating risk awareness and best practices.

    Brent is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager with nearly 20 years’ of experience in the environmental health and safety field. He has worked in EHS since 2002, most recently as a Chemical Health and Safety Specialist and the University’s Deputy Chemical Hygiene Officer. He brings a demonstrated commitment to collaboration and service to this appointment.
