Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, CAHNR
The College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kumar Venkitanarayanan, professor of food microbiology in the Department of Animal Science, as CAHNR Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies. Dr. Venkitanarayanan is well known for his commitment to the research and graduate education missions. He has extensive experiences building research teams across institutions that have included meaningful integration of research with Extension and teaching. He has successfully pursued extramural funding that has included support for diversity, and has mentored many MS and PhD graduate students. Dr. Venkitanarayanan has served on numerous review panels for competitive grant programs including USDA and NSF; he has served as a panel manager for USDA. The nature of his research has also led to his familiarity and extensive involvement with compliance bodies on campus (including serving as Chair of UConn’s Institutional Biosafety Committee). He will begin his new role beginning in mid-May.
