  • Teaching Talk: Creating a Syllabus

Now is a great time to reflect on, reconsider, and perhaps update your course design and syllabus.  CETL therefore invites you to attend a workshop-style teaching talk on “Designing an Effective Syllabus” in ROWE 319.  Choose from two identical sessions:

    • Monday, December 12th, 11:00 – 12:15 p.m.
    • Friday, December 16th, 11:00 – 12:15 p.m.

This is one of a series of informal discussions aimed at sharing teaching concerns and discussing techniques and strategies with colleagues, experts, and CETL staff.

At this session, participants will discuss issues like

    • Course-design concerns
    • New by-laws requiring a syllabus
    • Which course details belong in the syllabus
    • Policy statements (what to include and why)
    • How students use a syllabus
    • Making your syllabus accessible

Please bring a draft syllabus to work on at the session.

All UConn instructors—graduate students, post-docs, visiting instructors, TAs, and APIRs, as well as adjunct and tenure-track faculty—are encouraged to attend.

Please email Stacey Valliere at CETL@uconn.edu (860-486-2686) to register, and feel free to contact Suzanne LaFleur if you have questions or would like more information.
