    Bassoon Extravaganza and More. Solomiya Ivakiv, Head of Strings. 8PM, von der Mehden Recital Hall.

     

    For one night only, come to the von der Mehden Recital Hall for an extravaganza of classical music featuring UCONN faculty members Solomiya Ivakhiv, Angelina Gadeliya, and Hazel Malcolmson with guest performers bassoonist Frank Morelli and cellist Marcy Rosen. The night will begin with a selection of pieces from Giacchino Rossini’s influential The Barber of Seville followed by the works of Francisco Mignone and Niccolò Paganini. After a brief pause, the artists will conclude the night with a performance of the brilliant Johannes Brahms’s Piano Trio No. 2 in C Major, Op. 87 and the soulful Astor Piazzola’s Oblivion. The performance will be held at the von der Mehden Recital Hall, 875 Coventry Rd., Storrs on October 29th. General admission is free. Plenty of well-lit parking across the street.
