Start the Semester Off Write! Monday morning retreats

The UConn Writing Center invites UConn graduate students to "Start the Semester Off Write" with four quick morning writing retreats as we come back this fall.

Modeled after our popular full-day writing retreats and four-day dissertation boot camps, these weekly, two-hour retreats feature a space to write and an excuse to do it, so you can kick-start your semester writing projects. The Writing Center recognizes that writing in big bursts can be helpful, but that smaller, recurring commitments can help form good writing habits that pay off throughout the semester.

Arrive with the project you are working on and your laptop, along with any notes or books you need. There will not be any tutoring or any lectures at these sessions. Please bring your own coffee and snacks.

    When: Mondays, 9 – 11 a.m., for the first 4 Mondays of the semester (8/29, 9/12, 9/19, 9/26)
Where: Scholars Collaborative, Level 4, Homer Babbidge Library

Advance registration is required. Follow this link to sign up for all four days, or any of the days you think you can make it:

    Saturday Writing Retreats

Please also consider attending the Writing Center's first Saturday writing retreat of the semester on September 3rd. This will be the first Saturday retreat of the semester, and it's a great chance to jump-start your writing projects.

These retreats for graduate student writers provide much needed time, space, and motivation to get some serious work done. Simply writing in the presence of others can bring a surprising sense of solidarity and productivity. Arrive with the project you are working on, your laptop, and any notes or books you may need. Bring your own lunch or plan to buy on campus. There will not be any tutoring or any lectures. This is simply a space to write.

    When: Saturday, September 3rd, from 10am - 5pm
Where: Storrs Hall, Widmer Wing 16

Full day and half-day tickets are available; advance registration is required. Register for free at:
