Charging Faculty Salaries to Sponsored Program Accounts with New Automated Accruals - Training

Please share this information with anyone in your department that is involved in calculating or processing salary charges to sponsored program accounts for faculty and other 9 or 10 month employees.

Immediate changes are needed in processing all 9 and 10 month faculty salaries charged to sponsored program accounts.  The following training sessions are being offered to provide guidance to departmental staff who calculate or process Payroll Authorizations (PAs) for 9 and 10 month faculty.

The training will review the new salary calculator tool, which will assist you in calculating the appropriate percentages to enter on the PA and in understanding the impact of the accrual entries that will be posted on 9 and 10 month faculty salary effective 8/23/2016.

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) Sponsored Program Services (SPS) is working closely with the offices of the Provost, Controller, Budget and Payroll to implement an automated accrual process for 9 and 10 month faculty.  This process will be implemented in FY17 along with the roll out of the new HR/Payroll system.  Additional training sessions will be offered in the coming months.

Training sessions are being offered at the following times:

    • Wednesday July 20th, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM, Biophysics Building 130
    • Thursday July 21th, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Biophysics Building 130
    • Tuesday July 26th, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Biophysics Building 130
