Brain Research Foundation Scientific Innovations Award

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) would like to announce that the Brain Research Foundation has invited the University to nominate one senior faculty member to submit a Letter of Intent for the 2017 Scientific Innovations Award (SIA).

As UConn/UConn Health may submit only one Letter of Intent for consideration, the OVPR will be conducting an internal screening process.

The Brain Research Foundation’s Annual Scientific Innovations Award provides funding for innovative science in both basic and clinical neuroscience. This funding mechanism is designed to support cutting-edge, creative, exploratory research in well-established research laboratories under the direction of experienced investigators.  To be eligible, the nominee must be a full-time associate professor/full professor working in the area of brain function in health and disease studies.  Current major National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other peer-review funding is preferred, and evidence of such funding in the past three years is required.  The grant period is for two years in the amount of $150,000.  The support focus is for new research projects of the highest scientific merit.

    Limited Submission

Because only one Letter of Intent can be submitted from UConn/UConn Health for this program, an internal screening process is required. If you are considering submitting an application for the program listed below, an on-line Notification of Intent to Submit must be completed by the requested Intent to Submit Deadline.

Investigators are asked to submit pre-proposals for the internal screening process as per the Guidelines by the requested Internal Screening Deadline. Be sure to check the Guidelines for updates.  Pre-proposals not adhering to these guidelines and instructions will be returned.
