Important University-Wide Announcements

  • 12/28 University Information Security Incident

The University of Connecticut was the victim of an attack yesterday morning.  The result of the attack was that any connection attempt to a University server or computer was redirected to a non-university server, which effectively resulted in all University IT services (ie. email, HuskyCT etc) being unavailable.  The attack also made any global communications during the event impossible.

No servers at the University were compromised and there is no risk to any data that is stored on University infrastructure.  This was an attack designed to trick users into installing malware on their local computers.

Anyone trying to connect to University services that continue to experience the issue will need to wait until their Internet Service Provider updates DNS for their services to be restored.  This can take up to 24 hours and we expect complete resolution by 4PM today.
