Why I Give to UConn:
“I give because my parents gave. I give because people I admire give. I give because the opportunities and advantages that I have had are partly the product of others who gave.
Looking back at the degrees I’ve earned and scholarly opportunities like research travel I’ve had, I realize that each was subsidized by the generosity of others.
Now I give because our common good depends on it. I give for the pleasure of knowing that I'm contributing to something lasting and greater than myself. This is my gift to a future beyond my own lifetime.”
--Thomas Lawrence Long is a professor-in-residence in the UConn School of Nursing and Close to Home Committee chair.
There are so many great reasons to give.
As faculty and staff, you see firsthand what a difference UConn makes in transforming students’ lives.
You can help. Perhaps you want to support a student on a scholarship. Maybe you want to show your Husky pride for one of the basketball teams. Perhaps a UConn Health doctor made a difference in your life.
Now is a great time to give. For more information about making a gift through Close to Home, please visit http://www.closetohome.uconn.edu
