Dissertation Boot Camp for Graduate Students

    January 11th through 14th

    9am - 4pm each day

    Storrs Campus, Pharmacy Building Library

    ***advance registration required***
    ***limited to dissertation writers only***

Maintaining momentum on your dissertation can be tough, but making a commitment to structured writing time can help. Writing in the presence of others can also bring a sense of solidarity and productivity that can get you through even the toughest projects. For a sense of how productive (and transformative) this process can be, check out past-participant Chantelle Messier's story in McSweeney's that was inspired by it: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/how-glorious-our-task-letters-from-a-dissertation-boot-camp

Participants will arrive with a draft of the chapters they are working on and their laptops, along with any notes or books. There will not be any tutoring or any lectures, and Internet access will be limited. The point is to make a commitment to sustained writing time.

Space is limited to the first 20 who register. To both reserve your spot and to create an incentive for you to write for each of the four days, you must register through Eventbrite and submit a $50 check, made payable to the University of Connecticut, to Margie Ouimette in Suite 108, on Floor 1 of the Homer Babbidge Library, at least 2 weeks prior to the event (by Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015). If you attend each day for at least half a day, you get your check back, uncashed. If, however, you do not attend each day for at least half the day, we will cash your check and use the funds for future retreats.
