  • National Retirement Security Week - Meetings in CT

The One Meeting to Attend For Your Financial Future – a message from Kevin Lembo, State Comptroller

National Retirement Security Week begins next week!

Many people believe they can’t save for the future because bills are due today. However, consider this:  Merely $2 per day – the cost of a morning coffee – can grow to more than $60,000 in 30 years (assuming 7-percent average return).

Also consider the fact that most people surveyed admitted that they spend far more time researching and planning vacations than they do retirement investments.

This week, I want to take the fear out of long-term savings and reinforce that you can “start small, save big.”

The State of Connecticut Defined Contribution Plans are designed to help give you more control over your financial future. Learn how you can enroll and use the Plans today to help give yourself a more financially secure tomorrow.

During National Retirement Security Week, be sure to:

    • Start saving for retirement if you haven’t done so already—by joining the Plan(s).

    • Increase your contribution level if you’ve already enrolled in the Plan(s).

Learn more by attending a National Retirement Security Week meeting

I will be joining Prudential retirement counselors on October 23, 2015 to review the options available to state employees in planning for a more secure retirement.   If you are unable to attend this meeting, I encourage you to attend an event scheduled at one of the locations below. In some cases, as noted, representatives will be available to simply meet with you in one-on-one to go over any questions you might have – and, in some cases, representatives and I will also meet with you in a group setting. Here is the schedule:
