  • 10/16 Teaching Mentoring Network for New Faculty

The Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) invites new and junior faculty members across the university to a meeting of the Teaching Mentoring Network to connect with each other and explore ideas related to teaching and learning.

Please join us on Friday, October 16th, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in Oak 117.  Stop by for the company and snacks, even if you can’t stay for long.  We will discuss the following:

    • Your own questions and concerns about teaching and student learning—Have you encountered any challenges in your classes that you’d like to discuss?  Do you have any teaching tips or strategies to share with your colleagues? In what areas would you like teaching support?  For example, would you like training in using MediaSite, the Lightboard, or HuskyCT?  Would you like to learn more about active-learning strategies, flipping the classroom, or hybridizing a course?
    • Mid-semester formative assessments of teaching—How can we use student feedback to improve and modify our classes?
    • The best venue to encourage networking, communication and support—A formal reception? Group presentations?  Hands-on tutorials?  One-on-one meetings? Dedicated websites?

Meet other new faculty members and help ITL determine how best to meet your teaching needs.

Please RSVP here, even if you can only stop by for a short time.  Cookies and fruit will be served.
